Honda Research Institute joins Ohio Quantum Consortium

The faculty and researchers at the CQISE have formed the Ohio Quantum Consortium (OQC). Under this consortium, industry members fund special research projects for faculty and student researchers, as well as specialty training seminars and participate in an annual meeting.

Honda Research Institute (HRI) has joined as the inaugural member of the Center for Quantum Information Science and Engineering's (CQISE) industry consortium (Ohio Quantum Consortium) for FY26. With membership running from July - June annually, HRI has already been able to participate in the series of quantum themed short courses that run in early August (a listing of the topics that were offered can be viewed at the bottom of our membership page here).

As a member, HRI will also be invited to participate in the consortium annual meeting, held in Spring '26, and network with faculty, students, and other quantum researchers at the event. The membership fees are used to fund special research projects on quantum topics during the membership year. CQISE is thrilled to be able to fund 2 of these projects in FY26.

After VP of Research, Duane Detwiler, expressed interest in quantum collaboration to CQISE co-directors Ezekiel Johnston-Halperin and Ronald Reano, the consortium seemed to be a natural fit. Quantum Sensing and Computing is one of the seven research areas that HRI focuses in. This is not HRI's only collaboration at OSU, having announced a $2.6 million partnership for an Advanced Materials Science Lab
