CQISE Member Faculty Receives $1M OFRN Award

Kevin Singh receives $1.1M award as part of funding under OFRN Round 7

OSU Assistant Professor Kevin Singh's Photonic Interfaces for Atom-based Quantum Processors project, in partnership with Denison University, SRICO, Inc., AFRL, and NASA John Glenn, has been awarded $1,148,105 by the Ohio Federal Research Network. The proposal aims to establish a domestic supplier of FFPCs to enable photon-based quantum networking with atomic qubits. Kevin Singh holds the John W. Wilkins Endowed Professorship of Physics and is also a member faculty of CQISE. This is his first awarded grant at OSU.

The Ohio Federal Research Network (OFRN) Executive Review Board has approved $10.198 million in funding for seven new research and development projects under OFRN Round 7. The awards, funded through the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) and included in the Governor’s budget, will accelerate defense, aerospace, and advanced technology innovation while strengthening partnerships among Ohio’s universities, research institutions, and industry.

The selected projects span critical technology areas—hypersonics, human performance, aerospace power systems, commercial space, quantum technologies, autonomy, and advanced materials—and represent collaborations among 7 Ohio research institutions and 11 industry partners.
